Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has seen the future of video games, and that future is riddled with user-generated content.
The moment of clairvoyance arrived during prepared remarks at the BMO Interactive Entertainment conference, where he said the end of "passive entertainment" is near, and video games were supremely positioned to take advantage of the new environment.
"If you're in the entertainment business, any kind of entertainment, this is the game changer because no longer is entertainment a one way street of content created for audiences that just sit back and absorb it ... Entertainment consumers are moving from react to interact," he said.
And of course, no executive keynote would be complete without a little back-patting:
"[Nintendo believes] that building a foundations where players' creativity is harnessed and the results are shared is becoming increasingly important."
