President-Elect Thinks Different

Take that, iPod: Obama uses a Zune.

The much-maligned Microsoft Zune apparently has the world's most powerful man as its fan. President-elect Barack Obama was seen using one while working out at a Philadelphia gym. Back in June, Obama told Rolling Stone he was an iPod fan. That's when he was still running for office, though. Has the responsibility of the Presidency brought him to his senses?

Philadelphia City Paper's Neal Santos was excercising at his gym, when to his surprise, Obama showed up. Santos writes in his blog:

"...he hopped on the machine next to me and broke a mean sweat while reading a copy of USA Today and listening to his Zune"

As you might imagine, that blog caused a bit of controversy, with many people not believing him. So he followed it up the next day, saying:

"I vividly remember Obama pulling out an MP3 player with his left hand while exercising on the machine. It had a dark case protecting it and from what I saw, he was using a Zune.

"I've seen a Zune in action. I know what it looks like."

He added, though, that he couldn't be certain the Zune was actually Obama's, and not a loaner. He wrote:

"I want to correct what I said yesterday about Obama using a Zune. I claimed that it was his Zune. I don't know for sure that it was his. It could belong to one of the many Secret Service dudes that were at the gym, Michelle, or even one of his daughters. His headphones were not the standard iPod headphones, rather ones that wrap around your ear like the image to the right. The headphones were gray colored, either because they were gray or because they were really worn from use."

OK, now that we've got that straight, we can turn to other important issues of national policy...like what dog his daughters will be getting.
