Samsung announced today that it is breaking out its LED-backlit HDTVs into their own line, called Luxia.

The Luxia line of LED TVs focuses on high quality display, energy efficient technology and ultra-thin design. All models have an enhanced version of Samsung's signature Touch of Color image display, producing high contrast ratios, a full range of colors and crystal clear detail. Though these ultra-slim Luxias are just over an inch thick, Samsung manages to squeeze in a built-in tuner into the TVs.

Samsung's LNXXB8000 LCD TV

The LNXXB8000 model has next-generation Auto Motion Plus 240Hz frame interpolation technology, delivering a fast 240 Hz refresh rate--four times the rate of conventional LCDs. (HDTVs with 240 Hz refresh rates also were announced by LG Electronics today.) The 8000 will be available in the first half 2009 in 46-inch and 55-inch class sizes.

The LNXXB700 model has Auto Motion Plus 120Hz frame interpolation technology, and 120Hz refresh rate, double the rate of standard LCDs.

Samsung's LNXXB600 LCD TV

The winner of the CES 2009 Eco-Design Award, the LNXXB600, has a power indicator menu and consumes 40 percent less power than other LCD TVs on the market. The 600 is available in the first half of 2009 in 40-inch, 46-inch and 55-inch sizes.

Both the LNXXB7000 and LNXXB8000 models have Samsung's Internet@TV IPTV platform with widget technology. Powered by Yahoo!'s widget platform, viewers can watch content from a variety of Internet sources.

The Luxia TVs will also come with an improved wall mount that reduces the gap between your TV and wall from 2 inches to 0.6 inches--so your TV will truly hang like a picture.

Additionally, Samsung announced a redesign of the LED 750 to include a 240 hz refresh rate, improved ultra clear panel display and enhanced color technology. The PDP 850, the only new plasma TV announced, is only an inch thick and meets Energy Star 3.0's standards for energy efficient TVs.
