Sharpcast on Friday announced the release of SugarSync 1.5, a new version of their online file synching, data storage and sharing service. Customers will be upgraded in a phased rollout starting today and continuing through next week.

SugarSync enables users to sync files and folders on a computer -- Mac or PC -- with other devices, including an iPhone. You can back up files to the Internet and access them remotely using a Web browser from any Internet-connected computer.

New to the 1.5 release is "Shared Folders," which lets SugarSync users manage group project collaboration and work sharing. Other enhancements include a new upload status view that shows info on all computers for files and folders being uploaded to the "cloud;" support for local time format and a user interface for hidden files.

SugarSync is available as a 45-day trial. Plans start at US$2.49 a month, depending on your storage needs.
