Amazon.com's Search Engine Suffers Outage

Amazon.com's product search engine appeared to malfunction early Tuesday, with searches for well-known books and CDs producing no results.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. ET, searches for "Stephen King" and other terms on Amazon.com's bookstore returned the message, "Your search did not match any products."

Comments by users on the Twitter microblogging service suggested the apparent outage may have begun around 2:00 a.m. ET, with users noting the Amazon.com search engine was not functioning properly.

The outage did not last long. By approximately 2:40 a.m. ET, the search engine was back to normal. This time, a search for "Stephen King" turned up more than 22,000 results in Amazon.com's book store.

Company officials could not be reached for comment.
