Demo 09: New Tech Products Battle for Recognition

Demo 09 is looking for the next big thing in technology.

It's too early to declare any winners but so far this year, we've seen a netbook from Always Innovating that turns into a tablet PC when you pull the screen away from the keyboard.

Also on display is Symantec's Project Guru, which will appeal to IT pros whose family and friends expect them to solve all their technology problems. The project is a Web-based remote support tool that lets "tech savvy individuals" provide remote support to family and friends.

And Gazaro.com is a new service that promises to help you find good deals on electronics products and delivers the info to your e-mail inbox, RSS, or Twitter feeds.

Emerging technologies and new products introduced this year at DEMO--as at similar Demo conferences over the past 18 years--are shown by invitation only. Many breakthrough products--from consumer favorites like Skype, Slingbox, and TiVo to top development platforms such as Sun's Java, Qualcomm's Brew, and IBM's Pervasive--first danced onto the public stage at Demo conferences.
