Straight from Iwata's keynote at this year's GDC, Nintendo annouces a brand new Zelda game for the DS. Entitled "The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks". More screens and info after the jump!
This new DS title is tentatively named The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. It will be available this year. Stated in the keynote, Link will have the ability to control enemies and make them fight for him. In the demo, Link distracted a big Zora with a controlled shadow guard, then snuck around to hit it from behind. The stylus will also come into play. Much like in Phantom Hourglass, Link will have to travel between areas using a train armed with cannons.
Iwata stressed that Nintendo is trying to satisfy longtime loyalists with a less "casual" game.
New Zelda looks great to all those fans who loved the Windwaker style. Although some are torn on the new direction the series took. Spirit Tracks still looks like another quality Zelda title with spectacular gameplay.
