Over at Liliputing, Brad Lindler posted a notice Friday about the Asus 1000HA netbook being on sale for only $300 (after rebate) at ZipZoomfly.
The 1000HA specs are: 10.2 inch screen at the standard 1024 x 600 resolution, gigabyte of RAM, 160 gigabyte hard drive, Wi-Fi B and G and Windows XP Home. Missing are Bluetooth and Wi-Fi N. Brad says the battery life is 4 to 5 hours.
This is not your father's 1000HA. Instead of the older Asus keyboard with the right side shift key in the wrong place, this has the newer chiclet style keyboard with the shift key in the correct place. In black, model BLK001X has the old keyboard, model BLK026X has the new keyboard.
I've used this keyboard on an Asus 1000HE, the model up from the 1000HA, and wasn't impressed. The keys are flat and there is more space between them, but it felt cheap and I prefer more sculpted keys.
I checked a few sites selling the older version of the 1000HA and prices ranged from $337 to $350. A rebate is required, however, to get the price at ZipZoomfly down to $300.
