KB Covers Foregoes Covers, Intros Actual Keyboards

KB Covers has long produced protective silicone covers for a variety of Apple keyboards; among the most popular covers are application-specific models that overlay frequently used keyboard shortcuts and group related shortcuts by color. On Friday, the company announced the availability of KB Keyboards, a new line of keyboards that forgo the silicone cover, instead printing the custom labels right on the keys.

KB Covers uses Apple's aluminum-and-white Keyboard with Numeric Keypad as the basis for each US$120 KB Keyboard, replacing the keyboard's stock white keys with black or labeled versions. Models are available for Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pro Tools. The company also sells a general-use version that's essentially Apple's keyboard with black keys.

(The company will continue to sell its keyboard covers.)
