How do you one-up a game as good-looking as Mass Effect? You don't. You focus on making the game itself play better. I know I'm in a small (but vocal!) minority for calling the original game mediocre -- half-baked first-person combat, just-plain-silly vehicle controls, ungodly tracts of time spent wandering around grilling way-too-accommodating-NPCs -- so I'm really hoping Bioware's got more than just "more of the same" up their sleeves.
