Another reason that the Webbys are better, uh, we mean, different than the Oscars is this: You don't need to tune in to some major television network with its preshow celebrity gawking and endless commercials, or camp out among Tom Cruise's screaming fans for two days in order to get in on the action.

Although Webbys' president and founder Tiffany Shlain says the show has received handsome offers each year since its inception from television networks offering to broadcast the awards presentation, the Webbys has remained committed to its annual live Webcast. In keeping with the show's continual homage to the online medium, this year's People's Voice Awards were announced first during the Webcast at Yahoo.

More than 125,000 votes were cast for the People's Voice winners since the Webbys nominees were announced in March. Here are the sites that are the most popular among the populace:
