Western Digital (WD) on Wednesday announced the My Book World Edition II in a 4 terabyte (TB) capacity. It costs $700.

The My Book World Edition II is a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device that contains two drive mechanisms configured in a mirrored RAID array. It's Mac and PC-compatible, and attaches to the network using a Gigabit Ethernet connection. You can use it to stream movies and music to your TV or computer; it can act as an iTunes server or a UPnP or DLNA-compatible device, streaming content to an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

The My Book World Edition II also sports "MioNet" remote access technology, so you can access your files anywhere you have an Internet connection, and it features backup software for Mac OS X and Windows. A USB 2.0 port is also provided so you can expand the storage capacity with another hard drive.
