Panasonic's DMC-GF1 is based on the Micro Four Thirds system standard, which means it has features similar to those of a digital SLR, but in a more compact size. The Micro Four Thirds standard allows for interchangeable lenses, but eliminates the need for the mirrors found in SLRs.
