NEC MultiSync FE950
WHAT'S HOT: The MultiSync FE950 handily displayed both text and graphics. Colors on Web pages and in photos looked lively and vibrant, and text on word processing documents was dense and crisp. Jurors were particularly impressed with the MultiSync FE950's rendering of colors in a photo of fruit.
WHAT'S NOT: Despite its notable image quality, the MultiSync FE950's $499 price tag held it back from the Top 10 chart. CRT monitor prices have been slowly decreasing over the last few months, and with the average price of a 19-inch monitor on the chart at $398, the MultiSync FE950 stands out as expensive.
WHAT ELSE: The MultiSync FE950 features some advanced on-screen controls, such as moire. NEC also offers a standard three-year warranty but skimps on the support hours, with just 11.5 hours on weekdays only.
BEST USE: For graphics pros willing to pay a little extra, the MultiSync FE950 could be the way to go.
