Dell Offers Free Windows 7 Upgrade To Vista PC Buyers

Chris Brandrick

Dell disclosed details yesterday about a new incentive that allows customers to pre-order Windows 7 PCs.

Dubbed Windows 7 Free & Easy, the offer allows U.S. customers to order a Vista-powered machine from Dell right now, as normal. However, customers can then choose to have Dell upgrade the PC to the new Windows operating system, for free.

Of course, selecting this option means that the purchased PC will not be delivered until Windows 7 finally ships on October 22. That delay may not bother many customrs, though, as the potentially burden of upgrading has been removed.

The free offer, which appears to have been designed to prevent sales from slowing before the launch of Windows 7, is valid only on purchased computers running Windows Vista Home Premium and above.

If you're in the market to buy a new PC, and you know it won't be out-dated by the end of the month, Dell's offer may be for you.
