E-on Software, developer of software for creation, animation, rendering, and integration of natural 3-D environments, has unveiled its upcoming Vue 8 product line, scheduled for release the first week of November. New features include 3-D terrain sculpting, a new directional displacement engine, and the third-generation of e-on's atmospheric technology.

Vue 8 features three product families. Vue 8 for computer graphics professionals includes Vue 8 Infinite and Vue 8 xStream (with Ozone 5.0 to follow); Vue 8 for 3-D artists includes Vue 8 Esprit, Vue 8 Studio, and Vue 8 Complete. Vue 8 Studio, the company's new mid-range application, offers features similar to that of Vue 7 Pro Studio. Vue 8 for 3-D enthusiasts includes Vue 8 Pioneer & T-Packs and Vue 8 Frontier, specifically designed for Poser users.

Overall, new features include: 3-D terrain sculpting, localized infinite and procedural terrain sculpting, scene context sculpting, new stratified terrain fractals, new directional displacement engine for textures, third-generation spectral atmospheric technology, direct re-posing of rigged meshes, a new shader-based OpenGL preview engine, and deeper xStream immersive integration including support for Maya 2010, Cinema4D R11.5, Softimage 2010, and V-Ray for Maya.

Users of Vue xStream or Vue Infinite under maintenance will receive upgrades at no charge and they can download a pre-release version of their upgrade immediately. The final prices for all upgrade and sidegrade options will be disclosed when the products are released next month, the company said.
