Princeton Graphics Senergy 560

Offering extra features at a compelling price, this LCD works better as a digital model rather than an analog one.

WHAT'S HOT: At $899, the Senergy 560 ties for the least-expensive LCD in our roundup, yet it features a hybrid analog and digital interface. It also offers wider viewing angles than most models do. In its digital mode, the Senergy 560 rendered image quality that was nearly as impressive as that of our Best Buy, the Eizo Nanao FlexScan L330.

WHAT'S NOT: Unfortunately, in analog mode the Senergy 560 displayed weak text and graphics. A blank white screen looked slightly green; text looked fuzzy at small point sizes. Colors on a fruit tart test photo appeared too deep and oversaturated.

WHAT ELSE: The unit rotates effortlessly between portrait and landscape modes and offers four height positions--good if you plan to use this monitor for presentations. It also provides a built-in Universal Serial Bus hub with two downstream ports for connecting USB devices such as cameras and scanners.

BEST USE: This model would be a good choice if you're ready to make the leap to a digital LCD panel--as long as you already own a graphics board ready for digital connection.
