Cortado Workplace is an online file storage, document-sharing and collaboration service (1 GB free; paid subscription for more storage) with an interesting twist: a claim to enable wireless printing of documents to your networked printer, right from your Android phone. Functionality like this would be extremely valuable to mobile professionals. Too bad we couldn't get it to actually work in our tests at PCWorld Labs.

The cloud-storage part of the app works, but the allowable file size is capped at 3MB. That's fine for most text files, but image-heavy docs or PDFs can easily exceed that size. You can upload, download and share your files, but competing services can do the same without the file-size caps. So why would you pick Cortado Workplace? The wireless printing feature is really the main draw, but it doesn't work.

I really wanted to like this app. I tried the Wi-Fi printing option, multiple times. FAIL. I even tried specifying the IP address of several networked printers and Wi-Fi routers here at PCWorld. FAIL. The app also crashed repeatedly during these attempts. I sincerely hope that future updates solve these problems, but for right now this app is nearly worthless.

Although the promise of wireless printing from your Android phone is appealing, multiple crashes and non-functional features make this app nearly worthless.
