BARCELONA—WildTangent, a cross-device games company, plans to expand its services to Sony Xperia smartphones and tablets worldwide. In doing so, WildTagent is essentially making its global debut.
WildTangent is a gaming platform that delivers free and paid mobile, social, and online games to its users. Users can play free ad-supported games, or they can pay for them, either by renting titles (typically for 24 hours at a time) or purchasing them outright. Games are rented and purchased using a virtual currency that WildTangent calls WildCoins.
What’s cool about the service is that if you rent a game and discover that you love it and want to buy it, your rental charge will count toward your eventual purchase (so you don’t lose any money).
WildTangent’s games app is currently available on Windows PCs and Android devices, including the Kindle Fire. The app also comes pre-installed on Sony Vaio PCs and Sony Tablets S and P in Europe; it will soon be pre-installed on selected Xperia smartphones and tablets, starting March 1. Also, Xperia users who register with WildTangent will receive free WildCoins for renting and purchasing games and making in-app purchases.
WildTangent has tons of premium and free-to-play games, including Fruit Ninja (premium), Shadowgun (premium), and Babel Rising 3D (free).
