According to Gizmag, the University of Sheffield has developed a new method to help firefighters navigate through heavy smoke. The researchers developed a prototype helmet that will vibrate if someone gets too close to obstacles. The helmet uses sensors and vibrational pads located near the forehead area to help the crew move around a smoke-filled environment. [via Ubergizmo]
