Internet-famous cat, Lil Bub wins at the Tribeca Film Festival

Lil Bub

As predicted, famous Internet cat, Lil Bub has reigned victorious at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The Vice-produced feature Lil Bub & Friends, which documents the Internet cat phenomenon as a whole, was awarded best film prize at the online incarnation of the festival.

While Lil Bub & Friends is not without its own merit, we should note that anonymous web users were the arbiters of “the best” of the online festival. Several feature and short films were streamed for free on the festival website, where anyone in the United States with an Internet connection would be allowed to vote for best film. So, it was basically a foregone conclusion that a film about Internet cats as voted by anonymous Internet users would win this award. There was just no other way that was going to go down.

Users can still stream Lil Bub & Friends online for free here. But when you’re done squee-ing, feel free to check out the other available entries as well.
