Light up her face (and finger) with this LED engagement ring

If you're looking for a unique ring for the geeky—or even non-geeky—girl in your life, check out Ben Kokes's LED engagement ring.

The titanium band, codenamed Project Longhaul, contains an LED and a copper coil. The LED can light up the ring's gemstones, but it only lights up when it’s close to a magnetic field.

The idea is that you'd wear the magnetic transmitter under your clothing so the LED lights up when you present the ring to the love of your life. Clearly, it certainly worked for Ben and his fiancée, Julie. Alas, unlike diamonds, this ring won't last forever, but imagine how cool a LED band with a longer lifespan would be...
