Astronaut explains how to wash hair in zero gravity, makes us thankful for showers
Following up on the popular YouTube educational series by Canadian Space Agency astronaut Chris Hadfield, one of the International Space Station's newest recruits, NASA's Karen Nyberg, is busy demonstrating daily life in space.
Karen explains how you would go about the simple task of washing your hair when you have no gravity or running water to rely on. In short: While it may not seem like the best shower going, it's actually quick and efficient.
She applies a pouch of warm water to the scalp, and brushes it through her hair. Karen next applies dry shampoo, adds a bit more water, then towel dries. Apparently, the station's humidifier will turn the used water droplets into clean drinking water.
