Goal line technology helps referees make the right call

Technology is taking the guess work out of deciding what’s a goal in soccer. Using an array of high-speed cameras pointed at the goal, referees will be able to get a notifications sent to their watch whenever a ball crosses the goal line.

In this video report, we’ll look at how technology is playing a greater role in soccer, including how the sport’s governing body put it to use in this summer’s Confederations Cup. And this no mere summer fling: When action kicks off in the English Premiere League next month, the technology will be used. It’s also planned for FIFA’s 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
