Change Your StarCraft II Name for Free, Just This Once

StarCraft 2

Hey you with the weird Battle.net name no one understands or gets, pay attention. If you've put off changing your name because it costs $5, Blizzard's offering a reprieve, but just this once.

I'm talking to you, BaboonKittyEater and BritneySpearsLuvva and OMGT3HPWNZORS. You too, 868. Here's your chance to right those wrongs.

Blizzard promised a free character name change was coming back in August. Why? Who knows, but something for free? Celebrate good times.

"In addition, beyond this initial free name change, we'll be launching a service similar to the one we offer for World of Warcraft which will allow additional character name changes for a fee," wrote Blizzard at the time on its Battle.net blog.

And so they have, announcing yesterday that the one-time freebie was live.

"All StarCraft II accounts have been granted one free name change," writes Blizzard, offering instructions on how to do so, while at the same time encouraging players to follow the company's naming guidelines.

Me? I think I'll stick with TrogadorTheBurninator.
