Prepare for Titanfall on the Xbox 360... only now in April
Electronic Arts said Wednesday that the Xbox 360 version of the hit game Titanfall has been delayed again—this time, until early April.
EA said in a blog post on Wednesday that Titanfall for the Xbox 360 will now be released on April 8 in North America, and April 11 in the United Kingdom.
“I’ve been playing the game a lot, and it is fantastic,” Patrick Söderlund, the executive vice president of EA Studios, wrote. “But we see a few things that can be made even better, so we’re giving Bluepoint a little more time to do just that and deliver an epic Titanfall experience for Xbox 360 players." Söderlund promised features worth waiting for: "The game will feature the same 6v6 gameplay, maps, modes, weapons and Burn Cards as the Xbox One and PC versions of the game.”
The Bluepoint Games shooter, which combines on-foot shooter action with, well, titanic robot Titans, has been a massive hit on the PC and Xbox One. One U.K. retail tracking firm estimated that the game has led to a doubling of Xbox One sales in the United Kingdom. Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia actually interpreted the delay as an indication that Titanfall was performing better than expected on the the PC and Xbox One. The firm expects Titanfall will sell about 1 million units on the Xbox 360, Bhatia said in a research note published Wednesday.
EA explained away the first Titanfall Xbox 360 delay as a chance to “put the finishing touches on the game,” a process which would have seen it released on March 25. The Xbox 360 version of the game is not the only version that has suffered problems: The PC version of Titanfall will receive a fix for players that tried to run it using multiple graphics cards.
Xbox 360 owners can’t take even play Microsoft’s other talked-about game platform, Project Spark. The game-creation toolkit, which entered open beta on the PC last December and on the Xbox One earlier this month, is now free to download from the Xbox One dashboard, no waiting required. Waiting, however, is all the Xbox 360 owners who pine for Titanfall can do right now.
