The "Like" Economy: Major Retailers Offer Holiday Deals on Social Networks
Sears: Exclusive Deals
Sears is offering a new hidden deal every day on its Facebook page. The retailer will unlock the deal once enough people "Like" the page. You must then authorize the Sears wishtogether Facebook app to access your profile to see the deal page on Facebook. The department store has a running counter on the Facebook app to show you how many people need to "Like" the deal before it will go live--presumably a way to encourage people to get involved and unlock the deal together.
Tiger Direct: Samsung 3D HDTV Giveaway
The online retailer is running a sweepstakes on its Facebook page until December 7. Tiger Direct is offering weekly prizes and a grand prize bundle that includes a gamer-level PC and a Samsung 3D HDTV. You can also get a sneak peek at Tiger Direct's Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals by Liking its Facebook page.
Best Buy: Ad Previews
Facebook fans of Best Buy got an early peek at the big box retailer's Black Friday flyer. Anyone who confirmed they were attending Best Buy's Black Friday Ad online event received an early look at the retailer's Black Friday deals. The national electronics retailer has more social media goodness planned for this year's holiday season.
Staples: Cyber Monday Previews
The Staples Black Friday ad is already out, but Staples has started giving people sneak peeks at its Cyber Monday deals on Facebook.
There are far more retailers using Facebook to get the word out for Black Friday including Macy's, K-Mart and Target. All you have to do to discover the deals is press that "Like" button--welcome to the "Like" economy.
