Psym Mobile's first version of Abduction was one of the most popular games for Android. I liked it a lot, but I found it a bit too repetitive, and I wanted more differentiation between levels. Enter Abduction 2, which addresses most of my concerns. Psym Mobile has come up with a fun and challenging game that you won't get bored of easily.

Both Abduction titles are vertically scrolling platforming games. You control a perpetually jumping cow, guiding it higher and higher toward a spaceship that has abducted the critter's friends, and setting animals free along the way. You use the accelerometer in your phone to control the motion of the cow, and it's quite responsive. My problem with most vertically scrolling games like this is that they tend to be the same thing over and over. Abduction 2, however, becomes much more challenging as you go. You'll encounter spikes, moving platforms, falling bombs, fans, crumbling platforms, draggable platforms, rockets, power-ups, and more.

Additionally, each level sets a few different objectives. You can just try to finish the level so that you can move on to the next one. You can try to set all of the animals free (three per level), thus unlocking more characters and items. Or you can go for speed--the faster you finish, the more coins you get. You can redeem coins in the store, purchasing new playable characters, accessories for the characters to wear, and even new game modes.

The game offers 60 adventure levels and 60 randomly generated "classic" levels." Additionally, if you're the competitive type, Abduction 2 is integrated with the Feint network, so you can compare your scores with those of other players around the globe. It also provides a Quick game mode, in which you just hit Start to get up and running.

Abduction 2 packs in a good amount of value for the $3 cost. It would be nice if the price dropped a buck or two (especially when you stack this title up against more graphically complex games sold for the same price), but it is challenging, and it is a lot of fun.
