Bebbled: A Puzzle Game That Will Have You Hooked
If you're fan of Bejewled, you'll find it easy to get hooked on Bebbled. This challenging yet highly addictive puzzle game makes intelligent use of smartphone hardware; I tested it on multiple Android devices, and it looked great on all of them. At times it seems almost too challenging--but then again, I've been playing it for only about a week). In any case, the difficulty is part of what makes Bebbled so impossible to quit.
Your gameboard is a grid composed of orbs that you must match by color in order to score points. The more orbs you match, the more points you get. Orbs must touch vertically or horizontally--not diagonally--to count as matches. The app also uses your phone's accelerometer, so you can flip your handset 180 degrees to reshuffle your orbs and create even more groupings.
In campaign mode you can play for hours, trying to beat all 33 levels. Alternatively, you can play in freestyle mode, which allows you to customize your gaming experience. Best of all is online mode, where you can challenge your friends to some cutthroat Bebbled gaming.
The fault may lie with my slightly outdated Nexus One phone, but sometimes the accelerometer lagged a bit when I tried to flip the gameboard. That's my only complaint, though. Bebbled is definitely a game well worth playing.
