15 Sizzling Smartphones of CES 2011

The Motorola Atrix 4G runs on a dual-core processor and features a high-resolution 4-inch display, HD video capture, a front-facing camera, and a fingerprint reader. There's 1GB of RAM on board and the 1,930mAh battery dwarfs the average 1,300 to 1,500mAh found on most smartphones. Android 2.2 Froyo is the OS. It's headed to AT&T.

Samsung's Infuse 4G sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, an 8-megapixel camera (and secondary front-facing cameras), and a 1.2GHz singe core processor. It all is running on Android 2.2 (skinned with Samsung's TouchWiz). Headed to AT&T.

LG's Optimus Black flagship Android 2.2 phone has a 4-inch bright display. This phone is very slim (0.36 inch), and packs a 1,500mAh battery. Dual cameras are on board, and LG said you will be able to update to Android 2.3. No carrier announced.

The HTC EVO Shift 4G is a smaller version of the HTC EVO 4G, with a 3.6-inch display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. There's a 5-megapixel camera on board, as well as Android 2.2. Headed to Sprint.

Motorola's Droid Bionic has a dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, a 4.3-inch screen and HD video recording. It also sports a back 8-megapixel camera and a front-facing video calling camera. It's headed to Verizon's 4G network.

Sony Ericsson's Xperia Arc sports a 4.2-inch display with a 1GHz processor inside and Android 2.3 on board. There's also an 8-megapixel camera on the back, and a video camera on the front, all packed at just 0.34 of an inch thin. DLNA support will be provided via an HDMi port. No carrier announced.

The Dell Venue Pro was a long time coming. It's got a 4.1-inch AMOLED screen, an 8-megapixel camera, Android 2.2, all running on a 1GHz processor. The phone is made to work with AT&T's network, but the carrier gave no indication of the Venue Pro's arrival.

The HTC Thunderbolt will run on Verizon's 4G LTE network. It features a 4.3-inch display with Android 2.2 (with HTC Sense) and an 8-megapixel camera. Inside there's a 1GHz processor; the Thunderbolt also has a front-facing video camera. Headed to Verizon.

The HTC Inspire has a 4.3-inch display, a 1GHz processor, and an 8-megapixel camera with dual flash. However, it has no front-facing video-calling camera. Android 2.2 will be on board. Headed for AT&T.

Vizio created a whole new UI for Android to run on its new phone. It has a 4-inch display, a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a video-calling camera on the front. There's also an HDMI port, and the 4GB internal memory can be expanded via microSD cards. No carrier announced.

The HTC FreeStyle moves toward the lower end of the spectrum, with a 3.2-inch display, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM radio, but with no other bells and whistles. The OS on this one is Brew MP from HTC, which is similar to OSes used on feature phones. Headed to AT&T.

Acer's Android 2.2-based beTouch E210 is aimed at the BlackBerry crowd. It sports a 2.6-inch touchscreen with a 416MHz processor and 256MB of RAM. There's also a 3.2-megapixel camera on the back, GPS, Wi-Fi and FM radio. No carrier announced.

LG's Revolution with Android 2.2 has a 4.3-inch display, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera at the back, and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera. The LG Revolution will also support Skype video calling. Headed to Verizon's 4G network.

The Acer Liquid Mini features a humble 3.2-inch display and a 600MHz processor with 512MB of RAM. There's a 5-megapixel camera on the back and has DLNA connectivity and FM radio, GPS and Bluetooth. No carrier announced.

Huawei's Ideos X5 is a mid-range Android 2.2 phone with a 3.8-inch display, an 800MHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera (with 720p HD video recording) and a second microphone on the back for noise cancellation. No carrier announced.

Motorola's follow-up device to the Cliq will join T-Mobile's network with a 3.7-inch display, 5-megapixel camera, and DNLA capabilities. The Cliq 2 has a 1GHz processor and runs Android 2.2. No carrier announced.
