Math Scramble is what you would get if you combined Boggle with math. When you start a game, you see a grid filled with basic mathematical operators (+, -, x) and numbers from 1 to 9. A value appears at the bottom of the screen, and your goal is to create an equation within a certain amount of time that comes out to that value. The more numbers you use, the higher the score you receive.

Unfortunately, the interface is plain and unexciting. The game also begins to feel repetitive after just a short while. Something that really irks me is the fact that once you select a number or mathematical operator, you can't unselect it; if you change your mind, you have to clear the board and start your equation over from the beginning. In a game where you are racing against the clock, this can be aggravating.

Math Scramble is a good idea, but it needs some more work before it can hang with the big dogs of mobile gaming. The paid version removes ads and allows you to upload your score to an online leaderboard, if you find the ads too obtrusive or you really want to compare your score with other players'.
