When is a limited edition not a limited edition? When it's Crysis 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), which some marketing bozo at EA decided to call limited, even though it's the regular $60 version everyone has to buy. No, your PC probably still won't play the game with the detail set to "maximum enervate," but if you're happy to play with the detail down or on a console, this is Crytek's splashy followup to the best-looking PC alien-shooter that sadly delivered one of the most disappointing endings ever. Developer, redeem thyself? Fingers triple-crossed. ETA: March 22
If you're more into best-of fighters, Square Enix ships Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy (PSP), a one-on-one mashup sequel starring all of Dissidia Final Fantasy's fan-favorite (or not) characters from the games. New faces include Gilgamesh (FFV), Tifa and Aerith (FFVII), Yuna (FFX), Vaan (FFXII), and Lightning (FFXIII). ETA: March 22
And if you'd rather see what happens when you mix a "life simulation" with knights, bodices, lederhosen, and a smattering of courtly love, EA's The Sims Medieval (PC, Mac) ships this week (also dubiously branded a "limited edition"--what's the deal, EA?). The game reportedly lets you build heroes, go on quests, and eventually cobble together your very own kingdom. ETA: March 22
The rest due this week, by platform. Note the arrival of 3DS games a bit early--the system isn't for sale until this coming Sunday, March 27.
