Opera Unveils Mini 6 and Mobile 11 Browsers
Opera has unveiled the final versions of its latest mobile browsers, Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11, both of which feature improved scrolling, panning and zooming.
The browser developer tweaked the mobile browsers to ensure they offer the smoothest and most responsive internet browsing experience possible on mobile phones.
Opera Mini is described by Opera as the "speed demon" of its mobile browser and has its core engine located on Opera's servers to ensure pages load faster. The browser also features the developer's compression technology, known as Opera Turbo, that compresses the bandwidth of text and data files on websites by up to 80 percent to further ensure pages load faster.
Opera Mini now benefits from pinch-to-zoom for the first time while Opera Mobile users can utilise the wrap text feature. This means when they tap to zoom when browsing the web, text will automatically be wrapped so it fits on the screen.
Both browsers have also been given an ability to share webpages and content on the internet via Facebook, Twitter and other social networks with just two taps.
Furthermore, the two browsers have been optimised for Android tablets. When a web user logs on to download the browser, Opera will identify the device being used and push the correct browser to thge user. Those using Opera on tablet PCs will see the menu bar displayed tat the top of the browser windows, rather than at the bottom as is common when using the browser on mobile phones.
Opera Mini 6 is available for J2ME, Android, BlackBerry and Symbian/S60handsets, while the Opera Mobile 11 browser is compatible with Android, Symbian, Windows Phone 7, MeeGo and Maemo platforms. They can be downloaded from Opera's dedicated mobile site now.
