Laurie writes: "I took this photograph with my Nikon D80. I fired my SB800 flash off the camera to give a diffuse lighting, and then I soft focused the background to make it appear a little dreamy."

Dwayne writes: "When reviewing my pictures from my trip to Aruba back in the spring, I realized that I had a special photo here as the color, the patterns and the background all worked together nicely. I cropped the photo and tweaked the lighting. I used my Canon EOS Digital Rebel SXi, with the flash set to -1 as a fill flash only."

Chris writes: "While traveling through a small town in central Iowa, I came upon a well-maintained old gas station. This is a photo of its front pump, which I took with a Nikon D90."

Dwayne writes: "I took this at Disney's Fantasmic. The little girl is my stepdaughter, holding a spinning light toy. I captured the scene with an Olympus C2100UZ."

Jeff writes: "I took this picture with my Canon 60D and a 75-300mm telephoto lens on a bitterly cold afternoon. I was having trouble with the exposure settings because my fingers were so cold. Time for some glove upgrades."

Richard says: "I took this picture just outside my apartment. I used a Nikon D40."

3/8 Runner Up: "Plum Tree" by Cat Winslow, Mooresville, North Carolina

Cat writes: "Since I had been reading your winter photo tips, I thought I'd submit this one. This was the result of our first white Christmas in over 50 years. It was taken with a Canon Rebel, and then I added a mini vignette in Photoshop."

3/15 Runner Up: "Radial Blur" by Doug Miller, The Colony, Texas

Doug writes: "It was a nice summer evening at a minor league baseball game, and I was doing some experimenting with my Canon S45. I shot this while twisting the whole camera. At the time, I really did not know what effect it would have on the picture."

3/22 Runner Up: "Geschnitztal Valley" by Alessandro Sacilotto, Oakton, Virginia

Alessandro says: "I took this photo in the Geschnitztal Valley, south of Innsbruck in Austria's Tyrol Province. I was struck by the fields of rapeseed and maneuvered myself so that I could use them as a strong foreground for the mountains and village in the background. I used an Olympus E-510."

3/29 Runner Up: "Nihiwatu Beach," by John DiNardo, Brigantine, New Jersey

John writes: "I took this at Nihiwatu, located on the island of Sumba in Indonesia. This photo was taken with a Canon Powershot SX10 IS. To get this effect, I placed a lens from my polarized sunglasses in front of the camera lens to bring out the detail of the clouds and water."
