Hide Folders 2009 offers a simple, excellent way to keep specific folders and their contents private by hiding them so that only you can see them. Run the program, add folders to it that you want to remain hidden, and from that point on, only someone with the proper password will be able to view them.

It offers a variety of options for privacy so that you could, for example, make some folders visible, but allow only you to make changes to them. The program even hides itself and makes itself invisible, so no one knows it's hiding anything. It even hides itself from the Task Manager.

One thing to keep in mind is that if any of the folders you choose are normally indexed by Windows Search, those folders and their contents can be viewed via Windows Search. To make them invisible from search, you'll have to exclude them from the index. How you do this varies depending on which version of Windows you use. Go to the Indexing Options Control Panel applet, and follow directions for excluding folders.
