This free player solves the problem. It plays DivX videos for you, and gives you all the controls you expect in a video player, including pause, resume, forward, back, and the ability to go to full-screen mode and back. You can also easily manage your video library, and burn videos to disc. Also included is a Web DivX player so that you can play videos inside a browser.

Note that when DivX Player installs, it asks whether you want to install the Yahoo Toolbar, so be sure to uncheck the box next to Install the Yahoo Toolbar if you don't want it installed. A for-pay version of the software offers extra capabilities, such as enhanced audio and video and the ability to convert other video formats to DivX.

Note: The DivX Player is free, and you'll never need to pay for it--but when you download it, also included are two trial pieces of software, the DivX Converter and the DivX Pro Codec. They work for 15 days, and if you want to use them beyond that time, you will have to pay for them. The DivX Converter converts various video formats to the DivX format, and the DivX Pro Codec lets you play DivX videos with many media players and has other features, such as fast video decoding on multi-core PCs.
