Windows Explorer's right-click context menu is a useful, if somewhat anemic, tool--unless you use Lammer Context Menu, that is. This nifty little utility powers up the context menu by adding several useful new functions to it.

One of the more useful new features is Batch Rename, that will let you quickly rename a group of files or folders. Highlight a group of files or folders in Windows Explorer, right-click it and select Batch Rename from Lammer Context Menu, you can rename them all in a single action.

Lammer Context Menu has a number of other useful features. Command line junkies will be pleased to see that they can use Lammer Context Menu to open a command prompt at the current folder location, for example. You can also use it to open a highlighted file in Notepad, select all files of a certain file type, and calculate a checksum for any file. It's free, it's small and it's useful--what's not to like?

Note: This link takes you to the vendor's site, where you can download the latest version of the software.
