Note: This review addresses a previous version of the software, when it was a standalone client with a free trial. It is now a Web app that costs $20/year.

This clever piece of software fights spam in an innovative way--it creates disposable e-mail addresses that you can use whenever you register at a site or provide your e-mail address to someone, and you suspect that the e-mail address will become a spam magnet. The addresses you create end in nyms.net, and any e-mail sent to them is forwarded to any email address of your choosing. That way, you get the e-mail, but you can kill the disposable e-mail address at any time you want.

Anonymizer Nyms is also a great way to track which Web sites or services are associated with spam. Create a disposable address, and then track all the e-mail you get from it in your forwarded mail box. The program has another useful feature as well--it lets you send anonymous e-mail, if you need to for any reason, because the recipient will see only the nyms.net address, not your real one. So, for example, if you have a sensitive medical question that you need answered, and don't want your real name known, or want to report an issue at work anonymously, this program can be a great help. This program can be run on its own, or as part of the larger Anonymizer Safe Surfing Suite.

Note: This download includes the entire Anonymizer Safe Surfing Suite, which consists of Anonymous Surfing, Anti-Spyware, Nyms, and Digital Shredder Lite. You can activate the trial for one or all the included applications. At the end of the trial period, pay for only the parts you wish to keep.
