If you're a Google calendar user, this gadget for Google Desktop lets you add new events and view the day's itinerary without having to fire up your browser. You'll need to first install the free Desktop software to use it, or create an iGoogle page.

Once installed, the gadget displays calendar events for the day, along with links to create a new event or view your calendar in the browser. If you click the name of a listed event, you'll see a fly-out window with more info on the event, as well as links to edit event details or show the event in the Google Calendar display. Both links will fire up a browser.

If you already use both Google Calendar and Google Desktop, you'll want this gadget. If you currently use only the calendar, it's worth taking a look at Desktop, since you can add other useful gadgets such as a system resource monitor or RSS feed display, in addition to this calendar gadget.

Note: This link takes you to the vendor's site, where you can automatically install the file into your Firefox browser.
