HP Touchpad Gets its First Homebrew Preware Patches

We were pretty lukewarm on the HP Touchpad but maybe a few Preware patches, programmed with Palm’s ADK and homebrew documentation, can reignite our webOS tablet romance. The updated version 1.7 of Preware can now be installed onto a HP Touchpad in developer mode.

After you’ve loaded up Preware you will get a catalogue of patches to be optionally installed. One of the more visible patches is the Glass Effect Suite, which changes the UI’s background, launcher screen, and status bar images. There’s also a "Make it so..." patch that tweaks the 'JustType' bar.

There is not anything too extreme to completely change the webOS experience, nor are there any under-the-hood performance tweaks just yet. If you find a homebrewed patch you like, be sure to rate, comment, and donate to the developer.
