Moto Stream accessory gives your old speakers the Bluetooth treatment

Motorola isn't just about making some of the cheapest smartphones available, as it's also bringing some interesting accessories to market, like the Moto Stream. In essence, the company took some key elements of the Nexus Q and packaged it into smaller and cheaper hardware. 

The purpose of the Moto Stream is simple: it makes any speakers with a standard headphone-style plug a Bluetooth-enabled one. From there, you can control music through the speaker via smartphone, tablet, or computer. It also comes with built-in NFC for easy paring. Users can stream music from apps like Google Play Music, Pandora, and Spotify.

Like the Nexus Q, the Moto Stream allows multiple users to connect, who can then control the music. If you don't like what you're hearing, you can "Heist" it, and play what you want instead. It sounds all so terribly Nexus Q-like. 

The design also might remind you of Google's previously failed media device that never hit physical or virtual shelves. The nerds who spent enough time playing Dungeons and Dragons will appreciate the shape of the Moto Stream, as it resembles a 20-sided die, or Icosahedron. Five of the sides have LED indicator lights underneath for some flare, likely signifying the amount of connected devices at any one point. 

Best of all, the Moto Stream is only $50, making it an affordable accessory that gets the job done in style. It's also not limited to Android devices, either. Given its Bluetooth nature, the Moto Stream has universal compatibility with iOS and Windows Phone as well. 

Starting today, you can buy the Moto Stream online, and it will arrive in Radio Shack stores starting this Friday.
