Only $89 for a notebook PC modem--who'd have thunk it? But you don't get what you don't pay for. No real speed--this modem takes over 4 minutes per MB for 56-kbps downloads. No voice features, despite the fact that the modem comes with QuickLink Message Center software. No easy installation instructions--the manual dives right into such heady topics as digital-to-analog conversions on the phone network. And no extensive support hours--Archtek reps are available only 8 hours per weekday, the most meager offering of any modem vendor whose products we've tested.
