Smart makes an affordable modem, but pass on it, especially if you can't make V.90 connections from your phone lines. This PCI card modem takes 6 minutes and 11 seconds to transfer a megabyte of files at 33.6 kbps--most of the chart-makers perform the same task in well under 6 minutes. Also, the modem's overly technical manual needs improvement.
