New App Encrypts Your Mobile Data Against Snoops

With concerns over mobile security steadily rising, it’s important to play it safe when it comes to your data. Smartphones these days have access to everything from phone numbers to bank accounts, so it’s crucial to make sure your private information isn’t being snooped on.

Enter Hotspot Shield, a new app from Anchorfree that compresses and encrypts your mobile data. The app runs in the background and will compress and encrypt all incoming and outgoing exchanges on the fly.

Besides attempting to protect all the info that is going in and out of your device, Anchorfree hopes that its compression services will help in saving you money by helping you use less data while on your smartphone.

Unfortunately, while the app itself is free, you’ll need to pay a subscription in order to continue to use the service after the 7 day trial expires. You can either pay $0.99 on a month to month basis, or save $2 and buy a year long subscription for $9.99. The app is now available in the Apple App Store for download, with an Android version coming soon.
