Attractive, thin, and light, and offering excellent graphics, the U36S is a great ultraportable. Regrettably, the touchpad could be better, and the speakers sound terrible. Even so, this attractive, superthin laptop has everything you need and more--assuming that you're not an audiophile.

Sony's VAIO Z is exceptionally thin and light, and comes with a nifty docking station. Though it's hampered by a poor keyboard and lackluster audio, this surprisingly powerful but unfortunately expensive laptop boasts cutting-edge design.

Boasting very solid construction, this thin and relatively light ultraportable is a good choice, though the battery life is poor and the screen can be overly glossy. If the battery lasted a couple of hours longer, this would be the business traveler's must-have laptop.

Boasting a velvety appearance and feel, the U300s has a great keyboard and touchpad for an Ultrabook. It offers neither ethernet nor an SDHC card slot, and it's a little expensive for its performance level, but this model compensates for its high price and slightly slow performance with a classy and very usable design.

Inexpensive for an ultraportable but on the large side for its class, the Vostro V131 offers nice input ergonomics, plus two USB 3.0 ports. You'll have a hard time finding a more affordable business ultraportable, though its size and weight stretch the definition.

Samsung's Series 3 provides good performance for the price, and is small, slim, and light. The display isn't as good as we expect from the company, and the touchpad rocker button is poor, but Samsung packs impressive performance into this compact and affordable laptop.

Gorgeous (aside from a slightly off-color screen) and boasting great performance, the Zenbook UX31E is almost perfect--except for its mediocre, unsatisfactory touchpad.

On the Latitude E6320, you'll find a durable, ruggedized exterior, plus a spill-proof keyboard and extras for business users. The battery sticks out the back, though, and this model is not a multimedia machine. Even so, the E6320 not only gets the job done, but also has a lot of thoughtful features that harried businesspeople will appreciate.

Despite its omission of USB 3.0, the EliteBook 2560p is a good option thanks to its durable construction, easy upgrading, and good ergonomics. This ultraportable's appeal lies mainly in its outstanding toughness and its simple access to components.
