Type-O-Matic Turns Your Email Into a Typewritten Letter

A few months ago, GeekTech tested out Snail Mail My Email, a website service where you submit a paragraph and drawing request, and someone would handwrite and send that request to the recipient. As fun as that was, sometimes the writing could be kind of illegible, and it was sadly limited project. If you want to surprise someone with an actual letter, though, your second chance is here with Type-O-Matic.

Based in Oxford UK, Type-O-Matic is essentially the same idea as Snail Mail My Email, but with a classy twist. Fill in the online form and let the mysterious guys behind the blog do the rest. You letter will be typed up on an old-school mechanical manual typewriter, using special typewriter-friendly paper.

The bonus? This is not an art project, so there is no time limit on how long the blog will be running for. It can also be written in any language using the Latin alphabet, so perhaps you can impress that penpal of yours.

The downside is there are a couple of restrictions. First, the letter has to be no more than 200 words, so keep it simple and concise. Also, to cover costs, the service will cost you £9.50 (aproximately $15 US) to use, so choose your words and recipient wisely.

Check out an example of how your retro letter will look on the Type-O-Matice website.
