LinkedIn wants to give you an edge when heading into that next meeting or conference call. It has updated user profiles on mobile devices to put more information available at a glance, with an eye towards putting more of your background information up front.
“Your new profile helps you tell your story to other professionals when they’re looking for you on the go. If you aren’t a master storyteller, we’ll let you know what’s missing and how you can add it,” LinkedIn product manager Charlton Soesanto said in a blog post announcing the update.
The update, available for both Android and iOS versions of the company’s mobile apps, adds an “in common” section to give information about shared skills or project interests. It also makes it easier to edit one’s profile and adds some visual polish.
The LinkedIn app will also gently pester you to make additions to your profile if it is incomplete or could use further tweaking by suggesting areas of your work history or background that would enhance the profile.
LinkedIn will also tell you now how others found you, whether it be from through the system’s search feature or by other means.
