Business books are like flossing: good for you, but also a chore. Who wants to slog through page after page of dry text, even if that text can help make you smarter?
Publisher Round Table Companies has come up with a clever solution: turn business books into comic books. Hence, SmarterComics, a collection of business and personal-development books adapted into concise, accessible graphic-novel form.
One such title is Chris Anderson's seminal work, "The Long Tail." The paperback edition sells for $12.95, but for a limited time you can read the e-book version of "The Long Tail" for free.
Specifically, the SmarterComics version. It's an 80-page consolidation of the book's high points, all presented in comic book-style panels. Think of it as an illustrated Cliff's Notes edition.
And you know what? It's downright ingenious. I found the all-text "Long Tail" pretty dry reading, but the SmarterComics adaptation pulled me right in. For one thing, I got through it in about 20 minutes, so it wasn't nearly as initimidating to add to my reading list.
What's more, the artwork is phenomenal--as attractive and professional as what you'd see in any graphic novel.
No need to take my word--just click over to the book's landing page and grab the e-book edition. (You'll need to set up an account or login via Facebook.) At the same time, note that this adaptation is also available for Android and iOS, just in case you want to read it on the run. And Amazon sells the paperback for $11.17, for those who prefer print media.
Another SmarterComics freebie worth checking out: popular wealth-building tome "Think and Grow Rich." Round Table Companies also offers well-respected titles like "How to Master the Art of Selling," "Overachievement," and "The 80/20 Principle." They're not free, but they're definitely worth a look if you want to enrich your business knowledge without investing a ton of time.
