Guillemot 3D Prophet

Guillemot 3D Prophet

WHAT'S HOT: Another GeForce 256 offering, the Guillemot 3D Prophet sported high numbers in Quake III: 89 frames per second using 16-bit color and a solid 62 fps with 32-bit color.

WHAT'S NOT: This board is the second most expensive on the chart, yet it doesn't offer much in terms of extras for the money. Also, we noticed milky transparency effects and lackluster colors in several of our gaming tests, and the low frame rates in Viper Racing (13 fps) made that game barely playable.

WHAT ELSE: The video-out port allows gamers to play using a big-screen TV, or to even record their game play with a VCR. Like other NVidia GeForce 256-based boards reviewed--except for Creative Labs' 3D Blaster Annihilator Pro--the 3D Prophet uses SDR memory. Guillemot offers a three-year warranty and toll-free support 10.5 hours each weekday.

BEST USE: The video-out port doesn't make up for the additional cost of this board. You can find that and additional features on other cards for less cash.
