WHAT'S HOT: Encased in a gracefully designed flat CRT, the VisionMaster Pro 450 displays crisp, solid text with flair. Lettering on spreadsheets and on word processing documents looked sharp and well-defined, and the VisionMaster Pro 450 rendered icons crisply.
WHAT'S NOT: Unfortunately, a hefty price tag and average graphics scores prevented the VisionMaster Pro 450 from making the chart. At $649, the VisionMaster Pro 450 is priced well above others; seven of the monitors on our May chart sport price tags below $500. Also, colors on Web pages lacked the vibrancy exhibited by other models.
WHAT ELSE: On-screen controls are not intuitive and lack both percentage and number indicators. However, the VisionMaster Pro 450 does have a high refresh rate of 143 Hz at 1024 by 768 resolution.
BEST USE: Strong text quality and a high refresh rate make the VisionMaster Pro 450 a good choice for desktop publishing professionals.
